The prairie school, the traditional modern american style

The Prairie School, or The Chicago School, was an architectural style employed by American architects that wanted to discover a new architecture based on traditional American values, and in accordance to its native landscape. This style of architecture was marked by strong horizontal lines, integration with the landscape, flat or hipped roofs with broad overhanging eaves, windows as separation screens, long and in horizontal bands. Its most important proponent of the style was Frank Lloyd Wright. This style had a clear inspiration from the Arts & Crafts movement.
