In Ancient Rome, the villa urbana was a residence located outside the city, that aimed on offering its inhabitants the same urban atmosphere present in the middle of the city. The villa rustica was a residence located at the countryside, which aimed to offer the country life to its inhabitans, taking advantage of its surroundings. Villa urbana wanted to have the same attributes a house in the city would have.
